Sean Forrest

Coach

Sean ForrestWhen Sean discovered CrossFit in 2007, the idea of constantly varied functional movement made a lot of sense, but with no access to proper instruction he stuck to his regular routines.

A friend reintroduced him to CrossFit in 2008, and together they struggled with videos, sand-filled basketballs and terrible form—classic “garage style” CrossFit.

He remembers working out day after day, every muscle aching and not being able to breathe. It was both terrifying and awesome (not much has changed).

By 2009 things were progressing well, but the videos and trial and error were only going to get him so far.

Luckily, CrossFit Toronto moved in down the street and the rest is history.

Sean has a long view of fitness. Today, make sure your movement is good — your time and the weight don’t matter.

It’s the workouts you do next week, next month and next year that matter and will provide you with the success you’re looking for.

Sean’s fitness goals are to improve his Olympic lifting and help others avoid the mistakes he made. His favorite WODs are “Nutts”, “Manion”, “The Seven” and “Elizabeth”.

Sean’s current qualifications include

  • CrossFit Level 1 trainer (CF-L1)
  • Olympic Lifting (OlyWOD, Bryan Marshall)
  • CPR & First Aid

Jeff Lam

Coach

Jeff is a seasoned CrossFit trainer and has over 20 friends on Facebook, most of which he insists are real people.

After being absurd and strange, his second favourite past time is athletics. Since childhood, Jeff has competed in a wealth of different sports but excelling in varsity track. Eventually, he’ll realize his passion is less with sport itself but instead the art of human performance.

Since then, Jeff has pursued knowledge in human kinetics obsessively by means of both CrossFit methodologies and other professional education. In conjunction with years of experience in different styles of periodization, he has the tools required to help his clients reach their goals. His philosophy is “train hard, live easy”.

When Jeff isn’t training, he spends his time watching reruns of The Simpsons or staring out the window.

Jennifer Lindqvist

Coach

Jen LindqvistAfter listening to a Firefighter friend rave incessantly about CrossFit, Jen finally took the plunge and tried a class in February of 2012. The rest is history.

Jen found CrossFit was the perfect activity after the birth of her third daughter. The workouts were whipping her into shape, but it was the community that existed within the gym that really drew her in. Making friends and being accountable to others can be a great motivator.

Joining the coaching staff in January of 2014, Jen quickly added CrossFit Kids and CrossFit Mobility to her expertise. She started the CrossFit Toronto Kids program in the autumn of 2014 and can often been seen coaching her Kids and Kidlet groups.

Jen's passion for CrossFit is that it is an activity that is accessible to all. Old, young, pregnant or not, CrossFit can always fit into your life.

Jen's current certifications include

  • CrossFit Level 1 trainer (CF-L1)
  • CrossFit Mobility
  • CrossFit Kids
  • CPR & First Aid

Pavel Palma

Coach

Pavel came across CrossFit in the Spring of 2012 when he was looking for a way to increase his strength and stamina, and never turned back once he began.

He's been through a big transformation since his journey into CrossFit and there's no stopping him now. His happy place and second home is the box. He has competed and judged in a few competitions and takes part in as many seminars as he can.

After two years of CrossFitting, Pavel decided to get his Level 1 CrossFit certification and soon after became a coach at CrossFit Toronto, coaching not only adults but CrossFit Kids as well. He thoroughly enjoys coaching the young ones, making sure the young generations are healthy, fit, and active.

Although CrossFit is Pavel's main form of fitness, he also plays many sports such as football and rugby, and enjoys outdoor activities such as mountain biking back in his home town in Mexico. In his spare time he loves to travel.

Pavel's current certifications include

  • CrossFit Level 1 trainer (CF-L1)
  • CrossFit Kids
  • CPR & First Aid

Katie Sonnichsen

Coach

For over 10 years, Katie's fitness consisted of extended cardio sessions, and strength training, in the gym, solo.

A naturally social person - she sought out group classes, but nothing she found, pushed her to her true limits.

Ironically, the path to CrossFit was paved (post knee injury) when her surgeon told her to cut back on running. With her career in Emergency Services, physical training wasn't something that could be given up.

She still remembers her first email to Crossfit Toronto, in 2013 - asking, if she was unable to run long distances, could she still join bootcamp(?). A friendly email saying "Yes, come in, no worries, you can row" soon followed and she signed right up.

Working with a pre-existing knee injury, Katie will be the first person to tell you how CrossFit's universal scalability for her specific mobility issues, rehabilitated not only her body, but her love of fitness.

A slow and steady approach and coaching on proper form were all key.

When a coaching opportunity presented itself at her home-away- from-home - CrossFit Toronto - it felt like the next natural step.
